How to set quiet hours for your CartBoss texts

SMS quiet hours are the night hours when no texts go out. In CartBoss, a text due in quiet hours waits and goes out in the morning, in the shopper's time. Quiet hours are on for every new store, from 22:00 to 08:00, and cost nothing.

Before you begin

Set quiet hours for a store

  1. In your CartBoss dashboard, click Sites in the left menu, under Websites.
  2. Click the pencil button (Edit website) next to the store.

What happens to a text during quiet hours?

  • It is delayed, never dropped. It goes out one minute after your resume time.
  • The whole series moves. If the shopper has more texts waiting from the same cart, they move by the same amount, so the gap between them stays the same.
  • The time is the shopper's country time. CartBoss uses one time zone for each country, taken from the shopper's country. US shoppers: Eastern time.
  • Quiet hours apply to every text: abandoned cart texts and Win-Back texts alike.

Quiet hours for shoppers in the US

For shoppers in the US, CartBoss always pauses texts from 00:00 to 08:30 Eastern time. This happens even when your store's quiet hours are set to Disabled. Your store's own pause and resume times do not apply to US shoppers. For example, a US shopper can get a text at 21:00 even if your store pauses at 18:00.

Turn quiet hours off

  1. Open the store's Advanced tab as above.
  2. Under Quiet hours / DND, choose Disabled.
  3. Click Save.

Texts then go out at any time of day, except to shoppers in the US. If you turn quiet hours on again later, the times start at 22:00 and 08:00.

The rules about when you may send texts differ between countries. Check the rules in the countries you sell to.

Questions

Why did a shopper get the text in the morning instead of after the delay I set?

The text was due during quiet hours, so it waited until the resume time. See also How to find out why a shopper didn't get a CartBoss text.

Can I set different quiet hours for each country?

No. You set one pause time and one resume time per store. CartBoss applies them in each shopper's own country time.

Do quiet hours cost anything?

No. A delayed text is paid only when it is sent.

Which time zone does CartBoss use for a country with several time zones?

One time zone per country. For the US, it is Eastern time.
