How to uninstall CartBoss from Shopify or WooCommerce
To uninstall CartBoss, remove the app in Shopify (Settings → Apps) or deactivate and delete the plugin in WordPress, then switch the store Off in CartBoss. Your balance stays in your CartBoss account.
Before you begin
- CartBoss is not told when you uninstall. Texts already planned for shoppers can still go out until you switch the store Off in CartBoss. Do that first (see the next step).
- Only want a break? Switching the store Off is enough. You don't need to uninstall (see How to pause CartBoss for a store or a single message).
Stop texts at once: switch the store Off
- In CartBoss, click Sites in the left menu.
- Click the switch next to the store so it shows Off. The store now shows Paused.

A paused store gets no new texts, and texts already planned for it are not sent. Turning the store back On later does not send them again.
Uninstall the CartBoss app from Shopify
- In your Shopify admin, go to Settings → Apps.
- Next to the CartBoss app, click the … menu, then Uninstall.
- Optional: pick a reason under Reason for uninstalling (optional).
- Click Uninstall.
Your store stops sending carts and orders to CartBoss. The app adds no code to your theme, so there is nothing else to remove in Shopify.
Uninstall the CartBoss plugin from WordPress
- In your WordPress admin, click Plugins.
- Under SMS Abandoned Cart Recovery - CartBoss, click Deactivate.
- To remove it for good, click Delete under the plugin and confirm.
What each step keeps:
- Deactivate: the plugin stops working on your store, but WordPress keeps its settings, your API key and the carts it stored. Activate it again and it picks up where it left off.
- Delete: removes the plugin's settings, your API key and its stored carts from WordPress. To use CartBoss again, install the plugin and connect it with your API key (see How to connect your WooCommerce store to CartBoss).
What happens in CartBoss
- Your store stays on the Sites page with its messages and settings. Nothing is deleted.
- If you didn't switch it Off, it shows Not tracking about 2 days after its last check-in with CartBoss.
- Your balance belongs to your CartBoss account, not to the store. It stays there, and you can use it for your other stores or if you come back.
Questions
Do I get my balance back?
Uninstalling does not change your balance. For any question about your balance, email support@cartboss.io with your store address.
I have a brand. Does it keep charging me?
Yes. A brand renews every month until you delete it. Open Brand Kit, click the pencil button (Edit brand) next to your brand and click Delete. A brand that is still in review can be deleted once the review ends (see How to set up a brand (your own sender name and links) in CartBoss).
Can I remove the store from CartBoss too?
Yes, if your account has more than one store. Click the pencil button (Edit website) next to the store and click Delete. This can't be undone. Your only store can't be deleted; switch it Off instead.
I uninstalled by mistake. How do I come back?
On Shopify, install the app again: your store reconnects to the same site in CartBoss, with its messages and settings (see How to connect your Shopify store to CartBoss). On WordPress, activate the plugin again, or install it and connect it with your API key. Then switch the store On in Sites if you paused it.
